Here are a
selection of layouts and dioramas. Some still exist, whilst
others have been broken up, or sold to new owners.

East Inchley
- a '00' scale layout by John Shaw - UK
Note, that this is East Inchley,
not East Finchley! A layout that started off as a diorama to display John's
first EFE train. It is now both LT / BR with dcc sound on the BR side. Set
in a fictitious suburb somewhere in north London in the late 60's.
It is just seven feet in length and fourteen inches wide. It started out as
a diorama to display my first EFE set, but soon expanded. Taking several
forms over the last four years, at one stage it included a depot, since
replaced by the DCC lines. All the points on the layout are manually
controlled and there are currently no signals.
The station is a shared LT/BR
station with limited BR services to the Widened Lines via Kings Cross York
Road at peak hours only. The majority of passenger services are run by LT. The
station building is a Bachmann Holden-style model which replaced various
other Street Level Models erected on the site earlier this year.
All the street buildings are
card models altered by myself to represent "London-style" flat
roofed Georgian/Victorian buildings with some art deco. I made them myself
as the pre-made buildings available are not suitable. The pub is equipped
with a speaker attached to an iPod Touch, and you can hear old London pub
songs drifting out of the windows.
For the future..... I have
yet to complete the cable hangers near the tunnel, and some more third and
fourth rail detailing needs to be done as well as adding some extra line-side
clutter. There is also an absence of people, which needs to be sorted soon.
I also want to replace the bogies on my Central Line EFE unit, which is
already motorised but a poor runner due to the EFE wheels even with the
clips removed.
I currently run a variety
of LT tube stock, including two sets of 1938 EFE, 1959/1962 EFE, a
battery loco made from a Radley Models kit, and one Acton Shunter (also
Radley Models). Plus, one Metro Models 1995 Northern Line Tube stock, which
runs occasionally, but does not fit within the 1950s-1960s time scale I have
chosen to model in. In addition to the above, the BR side of the model
is mostly DCC sound-chipped diesel locomotives, in British Rail green to fit
the time scale modelled.
